About OMAP

Introduction
                The omap,standing for "Open Multimedia Application Platform" platform from TI  was mainly designed to cater to the multimedia and wireless market with  real-time requirements.The task is achieved by integrating the software infrastructure on ARM (RISC) processor with a low power DSP into the same SoC . Thus we have a dual processor core which can handle both computational and single processing requirements.
