  Student Symposium

This is an excellent forum for students to get feedback from the researchers and industry professionals in the field, not to mention the possibility of opportunity to work with research groups in industry and academia. The symposium is open to the students of M.Tech program (in second year) or PhD program (after 3rd year). The student (with approval from adviser) needs to submit a proposal with following details.


1. Category : M.Tech work / PhD work
2. Proposal covering following details:

 
  • Title, name of the student, affiliation, advisor, etc.
  • Motivation and background for the work and Importance of the topic
  • Review of the literature (only key references), highlighting the research gaps and the positioning of your work w.r.t the current art.
  • Outline of the work (for example, you can show a pretty picture of the system or tool or product or algorithms that you will be designing). Include a rigorous analysis of the work. Bring out the novelty/ originality/innovativeness of your work.
  • Work completed so far
  • Work envisaged

  • Evaluation criteria:
     
  • novelty of your ideas,
  • quality of your viewgraphs,
  • quality of your presentation,
  • awareness of the current art in the area/topic of your investigation,
  • Substance and quality of work carried out,
  • and clarity of future trajectory of your work.
  • Please keep these in mind while preparing for your proposal and presentation.

      1. Last date for submission of proposal: Sep 30, 2009 (revised from Sep 4, 2009)
    2. Announcement of short listed proposals: Nov 1, 2009.
    3. Submission of viewgraph : Jan 31, 2009
    4. Symposium Presentation Date: 27 Feb 2010
    5. Conference : Feb 25-27, 2010
