System Sizing and Analysis

This was an independant study done by me , under the guidance of Dr. Subhashis Banerjee and Dr. Huzur Saran, during the fall semester 1998-1999.
Using the departmental lab as a case study, the performance of the system resources under various loads and configurations was studied and analysed. The primary aims were :
 | To be able to identify the parameters affecting various aspects of system performance, |
| Monitor the performance by varying these parameters, |
| Do a statistical analysis of the observed loads and |
| Provide the basis to formulate models to analytically determine performance under new configurations, and derive the optimal configuration. |
These results are highly specific to the cluster configuration of the Intel/Minicomputer labs of CSE department, IIT-Delhi. However, the analysis should scale upto larger set-ups also. As a matter of fact, these results were well reviewed by a committee from Intel during a recent visit to our labs.
