The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is happy to announcethat alumnus Pankaj Gupta (BTech 1991) has donated Rs 40 Lakhs to endowthree Young Faculty Awards for new faculty joining the department. Theaward will comprise Rs 2 Lakhs per annum for professional developmentapart from a monthly honorarium and will extend for three years fromjoining. The department extends its thanks to Pankaj for its support toour mission to be an academic research leader in the world.
Donor Bio
Pankaj is currently Director of Engineering in the Next Billion Users teamat Google. Google recently acquired Pankaj's AI/ML startup called HalliLabs in its first acquisition in India. Pankaj was an early employee atTwitter in San Francisco where he held various engineering and managementroles -- including Director of Engineering of the Personalization andRecommendations team which was responsible for many of Twitter's search,discovery and relevance products. He has previously founded two startups inthe past (both acquired) and also a co-investing angel fund calledSpecialized Types. He has a Ph.D. from Stanford University in ComputerScience, and has published more than 30 research papers and 20 patents
