The report is devided into four parts. Each part deals with the
different aspects of RTKER . Each part has various chapters expalining
in detail
- Part I : Concepts
This part discusses the important theoritical concepts behind RTKER
- Chapter 2 discusses the reason
behind the scheduler API.
- Chapter 3 discusses the interrupt
handling of RTKER
- Chapter 4 discusses the
device driver framework of the RTKER and explains how does it
enable to easily port device drivers.
- Part II : User Manual
This part discusses the API of RTKER for the application developer
- Chapter 5 discusses the thread
library API
- Chapter 6 discusses the
semaphore library API
- Chapter 7 discusses the methodology
of defining a custom scheduler. It aslo explains the
deadline detection framework of rtker
- Part III : Kernel Implementation
This part discusses the implementations of the variuos kernel APIs
- Chapter 8 discusses the
implementation framework of the whole kernel
- Chapter 9 discusses the
implementation details of the thread library
- Chapter 10 discusses
the implemetation details of the semaphore library
- Chapter 11 details the profiling
information of varoius kernek function calls
- Part IV : Applications
This part discusses some applications based on RTKER
- Chapter 12 discusses the mpeg
streaming application and the utilily of scheduling API in this application
Finally, chapter 13 conludes the thesis and
discusses some future work.
This thesis can be read in sequence. But in case a reader wants to
read the thesis just for aiding him in develping application then he
may skip part III. Else if the reader
wants to develop the kernel itself then he may skip
partIV.
