IITD - IBM Research Operations Research Weekend

April 8-9, 2006 At IIT Delhi.

Today, the scale and nature of operations in Indian Industry is rapidly changing. Many important operational details previously decided through manual processes are being decided with the help of fully/partially automated tools. At the same time, many operations which could possibly be automated are perhaps still done manually. The academic and research community in India has expertise in OR, Computer Science, and Mathematics which when harnessed can lead to useful tools for efficient operations. The industry has practitoners who are solving day-to-day operational problems with the help of automated tools or manual processes depending on either feasibility or historical reasons. The "OR Weekend"  brought together speakers from the academic community as well as practioners in Indian Industry. Our hope, in organising this weekend, was that it would lead to sustained collaborations between the different participants of the workshop.

The workshop was organized with funding from IBM. The talks were held in the seminar room of the Computer Science and Engineering Department at IIT Delhi (Bharti Building, Room 501).
